After the firing of Matt Patricia, Detroit Lions fans have decided it’s time to thank Deshaun Watson for helping make that happen.

You can probably count on your fingers the amount of people who are unhappy with the Detroit Lions after they decided to fire Matt Patricia. The young head coach simply wasn’t working out in the Motor City.

Things were sent over the top after Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans dominated the Lions on Thanksgiving Day, all but securing Patricia would be relieved of his duties. Well, if you ask Lions fans, Watson is to thank for Patricia getting canned, which is why they’ve been sending in donation after donation to his charity. Seriously.

Well, that’s one way to thank Watson. As you can see, Lions fans all over the country had grown tired of Patricia in charge. With the former New England Patriots assistant at the helm, Detroit had limped their way to a 4-7 record. Then, Thanksgiving arrived.

In that loss on Thursday to Houston, the team just had no answer for Watson. Even worse, they couldn’t get anything done offensively in the 41-25 defeat. Wasn’t Patricia supposed to wake up the defense too? Well, in the loss, Detroit allowed Watson to throw for 318 yards and four touchdowns.

It was just too easy for Watson, who truly had a field day throwing the ball all over the field, with two of his touchdowns going to Will Fuller. With Patricia now out of a job, Lions fans can start looking to the future.

While it won’t be easy to rebuild, the general consensus is this team is far better off without Patricia involved. And thanks to Watson, he helped speed up that process of life without him for Lions fans.
