The Detroit Lions are in a transition and many fans do not feel that Jared Goff is the answer. We know that many fans would love to see a franchise quarterback like Trevor Lawrence come to the Motor City after moving on from Matthew Stafford. What trade offer could Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes make that would entice the Jacksonville Jaguars, owners of the top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft?

You have to admit, Detroit Lions fans, that going from Matthew Stafford to Trevor Lawrence would have to feel somewhat like when the Indianapolis Colts went from Peyton Manning to Andrew Luck. It is an attractive proposition no matter how you feel about the potential cost.

There is a ton of draft-related content flooding the Internet, lots of what to do if we pick at the number seven overall pick that we are currently slated at, lots of trade-down talks, but what we have yet to see is much of any consideration for an option that several franchisees have to be considering, trading up.

We also acknowledge that many people are going to have the “Trust the process/ Brad Holmes” bumper stickers across their foreheads, too. Hear us out and then decide.

As soon as the Detroit Lions traded away veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford, the discussion started about what the Lions’ plans were going to be long-term. Holmes seems to be endorsing Jared Goff, acquired in the Stafford trade with the Los Angeles Rams, as the quarterback for the foreseeable future. Any negotiation of Goff’s contract to extend it to provide immediate cap relief may shut the door on Goff leaving anytime soon, as well.
