POLL: Would you approve of the Lions taking TE/WR Kyle Pitts at 7?

Pride of Detroit

If you ask a Detroit Lions fan how they feel about drafting a tight end in the top-10, they might go on a tirade about passing up on Aaron Donald. There’s some PTSD still there when on the subject, so when I saw the possibility of the Lions taking Florida’s Kyle Pitts with the seventh overall pick, and I saw “TE” next to his name, all I could think at the moment was “Oh no.”

However, Pitts isn’t your traditional tight end. I know, I know. This is probably already sending off some Eric Ebron vibes and we’ve barely gotten started, but bear with me. Pitts was often lining up on the outside for the Gators and winning battles with ease against some of the top SEC cornerbacks. He’s not just a tight end, and many believe he should be cross trained as both a wide receiver and a tight end.

Today’s Question of the Day is…

Would you approve of the Lions taking Kyle Pitts with the No. 7 overall pick?

My answer: Yes.

I absolutely hate taking a tight end in the top 10, but to me, Kyle Pitts is not a tight end. When you put the film on and see the way that Florida used him, he’s much more than that. He’s an offensive weapon and arguably the best in the entire draft. For Lions fans’ sake, if the Lions do decide to draft Kyle Pitts, I certainly hope they list him as a wide receiver on Draft Day.
