Recapping Detroit Lions OTA Day 3 practices, press conferences

Pride of Detroit

For the first time under the Dan Campbell regime, the full Detroit Lions team—minus about a half-dozen players—took the practice field in front of local media. Reporters were treated to a pretty relaxed 60 minute session of mostly individual drills and special teams reps. While it wasn’t the most revealing of practices, especially considering the pads won’t come on for another couple months, there were some interesting observations to be had as I noted in my article on Thursday.

But Thursday wasn’t just about the practice on field. The Lions had a total of eight press conferences before and after practice, and as we’re starting to understand, this regime doesn’t mind giving honest, open answers to the media. Here are the eight people that took the podium: Dan Campbell, Aaron Glenn, Dave Fipp, Amani Oruwariye, T.J. Hockenson, D’Andre Swift, Jahlani Tavai, and Penei Sewell.

So to recap a busy day, I joined Ryan Matthews to talk about the biggest storylines, my most important takeaways, and my standout players from Day 3 of OTAs. We also chat a little about the Todd Gurley news, Jahlani Tavai’s weight loss and how Jared Goff looked in his first Detroit Lions action in front of the media.
