Thursday Night Football open thread: Broncos at Browns

Pride of Detroit

I wouldn’t blame you for skipping this one.

Week 7 of the NFL season starts off with the Denver Broncos facing off against the Cleveland Browns, but both teams are trying to overcome some serious hurdles. The Browns have lost three of their most important players. Baker Mayfield’s injury will leave Case Keenum to start tonight. Meanwhile, in the backfield, both Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt will be missing. The running backs will be some combination of Demetric Felton, D’Ernest Johnson, and John Kelly—not an ideal stable of backs.

The Broncos are similarly hurting, albeit on the schedule. After starting 3-0, the Broncos have been exposed and have since dropped three straight games. Those wins over the Giants, Jaguars, and Jets are looking mightily unimpressive. Their losses have come against decent competition, so whether Denver is a good team or not remains undecided. If they want to get back in the win column, tonight’s game against a banged-up Browns team could be a prime opportunity.
