Detroit Lions vs. Seattle Seahawks: Odds and prediction for Week 4

SideLion Report

Heading into Week 4, here are the odds and a prediction for Detroit Lions-Seattle Seahawks.

The Detroit Lions lost a game in “Same Old Lions” fashion in Week 3, as they made just enough mistakes on the field and sideline to lose to the Minnesota Vikings 28-24.

The Lions will return home in Week 4, and welcome the 1-2 Seattle Seahawks to Ford Field. Seattle has dropped two in a row since an improbable win over the Denver Broncos in Week 1, as  they’ve come back down to Earth a bit.

Last week, the prediction here was the Lions would lose but cover a 5.5-point (ultimately a 6-point) spread, which they did. Hitting the over on a 53.5 early total that ultimately settled at 52.5 total points fell just short.

Courtesy of FanDuel, here are odds followed by a prediction for Lions-Seahawks in Week 4.

Detroit Lions vs. Seahawks: Odds, prediction for Week 4

Point Spread:

Lions: -4.5 (-108)
Seahawks: +4.5 (-112)

Moneyline:

Lions: -210
Seahawks: +176

Over/Under (50):

Over: -110
Under: -110

The opening point spread on Monday morning favored the Lions by a bit more, but injuries suffered against the Vikings by safety Tracy Walker, running back D’Andre Swift and wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown have brought a drop to +4.5 and the spread could drop more. Walker is out for the season with a torn Achilles, while Swift is set to miss some time and St. Brown might miss Sunday’s game if he misses any time at all.

The Seahawks, with wide receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, are equipped to beat a Lions’ secondary that will miss Walker–provided Geno Smith can deliver the ball to them. Detroit will have to find their pass rush again, and while Smith is mobile he won’t give them nearly the headaches Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts did back in Week 1.

Prediction: Lions 23, Seahawks 17. Detroit wins and covers, while the under on the over/under total of 50 points hits comfortably.
