Lions sign Jake McQuaide to practice squad

The Detroit Lions lost a key member of their special team unit on Monday when Scott Daly went down with a season ending knee injury.

In a move that comes as no surprise, the Lions are signing former Pro Bowl long snapper Jake McQuaide to their practice squad. McQuaide spent the entirety of training camp with the Lions and he knows what to expect from this group.

The Lions cut McQuaide before the session started because they trusted Daly more, but McQuaide is about as good as you can get at this point. There isn’t a very large market for long snappers.

McQuaide is signed to the practice squad for now, but look for him to be added to the Lions 53-man roster at some point before the Lions head to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers after their bye week.
