The Detroit Lions have made their first move of free agency and they’ve signed a player that Lions fans might be familiar with. He’s definitely someone Dan Campbell and Aaron Glenn are familiar with. The Lions will be signing edge rusher Marcus Davenport.

Davenport is a former first round pick for the Saints and spent time around Aaron Glenn on the New Orleans defense and Dan Campbell was his assistant head coach.

Davenport spent the first five years of his career with the Saints before signing with the Vikings in last years free agency. Davenport had two sacks in four games before an ankle injury in Week 6 kept him out for the rest of the season.

Davenport will come to the Lions on a one year deal where he will have to prove himself after the injury in Minnesota. He was a very solid player for the Saints in those five years and was a starter there for years. In Detroit he’ll most likely play a depth role with a chance to show out more.
