Former Wisconsin Football Standouts Suspension Lifted by the NFL

Cephus put together a strong rookie season with the Lions after leaving the Wisconsin football team after three seasons to pursue the NFL. He caught 20 passes for 349 yards and two touchdowns and looked primed to take on an expanded role. That never came to fruition, and Detroit released Cephus after three seasons because of the allegations.

In total, Cephus appeared in 22 games, recording 37 receptions for 568 yards and four touchdowns. He’s now free to sign with any NFL team, although it’s uncertain if there will be a robust market for his services.

Cephpus, still only 26 years old, played under Wisconsin football head coach Paul Chryst from 2016-19, appearing in 37 career games, catching 93 passes for 1,496 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also earned a pair of consensus All-Big Ten honorable mention selections in 2017 and 2019.
