The Lions are acting quickly to fill the freshly created vacancy at linebacker coach. After promoting LB coach Kelvin Sheppard to defensive coordinator, the Lions are also promoting from within to replace Sheppard.

Per numerous reports, the Lions are elevating assistant LB coach Shaun Dion Hamilton to Sheppard’s old spot. Hamilton has been on the Lions defensive staff for the last three seasons, starting out as a nonspecific assistant before moving into the assistant LB role prior to the 2023 season. He immediately joined the staff after retiring as a player during the 2022 offseason.
