Detroit Lions start roster cuts by waiving WR Chris Lacy

Detroit Free Press

The Detroit Lions began the process of whittling their roster to the 53-man limit Friday when they informed wide receiver Chris Lacy he was being waived.

Lacy was cut early in training camp, but re-signed Aug. 19 when the Lions were dealing with injuries.

He caught three passes for 60 yards and appeared in seven games for the Lions last season.

The Lions have a logjam at receiver with six players worthy of roster spots: Starters Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones and Danny Amendola, and backups Quintez Cephus, Jamal Agnew and Marvin Hall.

Teams have until 4 p.m. Saturday to set their initial 53 man rosters.

The Lions entered Friday with 79 players on their roster after releasing receiver Geremy Davis earlier this week.

They did not make any moves that appeared on the NFL’s transaction wire Friday.
