D’Andre Swift might have to wait until next season to get his revenge on the Chicago Bears.

The Detroit Lions’ starting running back has been downgraded to doubtful with a non-COVID-19-related illness for Sunday’s game at the Bears, meaning he will likely miss his third straight contest.

Swift missed the past two games due to a brain injury, but was cleared from concussion protocol this week.

In the season opener vs. Chicago, Swift dropped a wide-open pass at the goal line with six seconds left in the game that would have given the Lions a Week 1 win. Instead, it completed their epic collapse in a 27-23 loss.

If Swift is out again, Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson will be the Lions’ top-2 backs.

Also downgraded to doubtful is defensive end Austin Bryant (thigh), a fourth-round pick out of Clemson in 2019.

Running back Jonathan Williams (hip) has been added to the practice report and is listed as questionable.

The Lions also waived tight end Isaac Nauta and receiver Marvin Hall, activated cornerback Darryl Roberts from injured reserve, and signed defensive tackle Frank Herron from the practice squad.

The surprising news regarding Hall confirmed a Friday report that the team was moving on from the speedy receiver, opening more play time for fifth-round rookie Quintez Cephus.

With No. 1 wideout Kenny Golladay (hip) ruled out for the fifth consecutive game, the Lions will rely heavily on veterans Danny Amendola and Mohamed Sanu.
