Detroit Lions LT Taylor Decker questionable, K Austin Seibert out vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Detroit Free Press

Taylor Decker is officially questionable to return Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the Detroit Lions will be without kicker Austin Seibert for the game.

Seibert did not practice Friday because of a hip injury that limited him earlier in the week. Practice squad kicker Ryan Santoso is expected to take Seibert’s place.

Santoso, who had stints with the New York Giants, Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans earlier this year, made a go-ahead field goal in his only attempt as a Lion, from 35 yards out late in a September loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens rallied to win in the final minute, on Justin Tucker’s record-setting kick.

Seibert, who missed the Ravens game with COVID-19, is 10 of 12 on field goals this season.

Decker, the Lions’ starting left tackle since 2016, is expected to make his season debut Sunday, barring any setbacks, after missing the first eight games with a finger injury,

Decker hurt his left index finger four days before the Lions’ season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He suffered a setback in his initial attempt to return last month, but was a full participant in practice every day this week.

Lions coach Dan Campbell said before practice Friday that Decker had a “high” chance of starting at left tackle.

Running back Jamaal Williams will miss his second straight game with a thigh injury for the Lions (0-8), while cornerback A.J. Parker (neck) and linebacker Austin Bryant (shoulder) are questionable.
