Penei Sewell (shoulder) added to Detroit Lions injury report, questionable vs. Vikings

Penei Sewell missed one day of practice this week with an illness, and now is listed on the Detroit Lions injury report for something entirely new.

Sewell was a limited participant in practice Friday with a shoulder injury and is listed as questionable to play Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

The rookie has started all 11 games and played all but four of the Lions’ 713 offensive snaps this season while splitting time between left and right tackle.

He opened training camp at right tackle, played the first eight games of the season at left tackle while Taylor Decker was out with a finger injury, and flipped back to the right side the past three weeks.

Swing tackle Matt Nelson, Sewell’s backup, is questionable to play with an ankle injury after missing last week’s loss to the Chicago Bears.

The Lions, the NFL’s only remaining winless team at 0-10-1, ruled running back D’Andre Swift (shoulder), defensive end Trey Flowers (knee), linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin (shoulder) and cornerback Bobby Price (shoulder) out of Sunday’s games with injuries.

Jamaal Williams will start at running back in place of Swift, who is expected back for next week’s game against the Denver Broncos.

Rookie Derrick Barnes will start in place of Reeves-Maybin.

Starting running back Dalvin Cook (shoulder), offensive tackle Christian Darrisaw (ankle) and safety Camryn Bynum (ankle) are out for the Vikings (5-6).
