Matthew Stafford is heading to the NFC Championship Game.
The former Lions quarterback passed for two touchdowns and rushed for another to lead the Los Angeles Rams to a 30-27 victory over Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
The Rams won on Matt Gay’s 30-yard field goal as time expired. The kick was set up by Stafford’s 44-yard pass to Cooper Kupp.
The Rams will face the NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers next Sunday. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.
Stafford was 28-of-38 for 366 yards, including touchdown passes to Kendall Blanton (seven yards) and Kupp (70 yards). He added a one-yard touchdown run in the third quarter for a 27-3 lead, and the Rams held off Brady (Michigan) and the Bucs from there.
Stafford spent the first 12 seasons with the Lions before he was shipped to the Rams in the offseason for quarterback Jared Goff and three draft picks.
Now, he’s one victory from a Super Bowl berth.
