Instant grade for Detroit Lions’ pick of Jameson Williams: Holmes delivers aggressiveness

Free Press sports writer Carlos Monarrez gives an instant grade for the Detroit Lions’ second first-round draft pick:

Alabama WR Jameson Williams

Grade: B.

I’m not crazy that the Lions traded up to get a player coming off an ACL injury in a draft that’s deep at receiver, but they didn’t give up that much, and overall I like that Brad Holmes delivered on the aggressiveness he promised.

THE (FIRST) PICK IS IN: Lions select Michigan’s Aidan Hutchinson

Based off Holmes trying to reportedly trade up last year to get LSU wideout Ja’Marr Chase and still getting steal of the 2021 draft at receiver with Amon-Ra St. Brown, he deserves the benefit of the doubt on this gamble.
