Lions safety Tracy Walker posts incredible video showing rehab progress

SideLion Report

Lions safety Tracy Walker has been offering promising updates on his progress from an Achilles tear, but his latest is the most remarkable yet.

The Detroit Lions have had some (too much) experience with Achilles’ tears lately, from cornerback Jeff Okudah and defensive end Romeo Okwara in 2021 to safety Tracy Walker in Week 3 last season.

Walker has been posting positive updates on his rehab consistently since he had surgery, which while promising have to be taken with some grain of salt. He is not going to post any of his struggles in the rehab process, after all.

But right off the bat Walker stated a goal to be ready for OTAs this spring, and nothing we’ve seen has derailed that as a possibility. Ultimately participating on any level before perhaps training camp is not totally in his hands, and the team will exercise caution.

On Sunday night, Walker posted a new video showing his continued recovery progress.

“I’m so close to being a 100%. Stay tuned”, Walker wrote on Twitter. He is planting, backpedaling, starting and stopping in the clip without any apparent hitch in his giddyup, about six months since surgery, which is a huge thing.

Not to be a wet blanket, but Walker has posted clips where he is doing things in a straight line. So the next step has to be some lateral movement stuff, and it’s still a big step to being able to do everything he needs to do on a football field.

Okudah was injured in Week 1 of the 2021 campaign, and he was a not a full speed participant in OTAs last year but he was 100 percent cleared for training camp. Walker, injured in Week 3 last season, appears to be pretty well ahead of Okudah’s timeline. Stay tuned for the next update he posts.
