Head coach Dan Campbell delivered somewhat of a challenge to Detroit Lions fans ahead of the club’s home opener versus the Seattle Seahawks that follows the team’s 21-20 win over the Kansas City Chiefs at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium this past Thursday night.

“I know what Arrowhead is and it was loud. I expect it to be louder than that, I really do,” Campbell said about the atmosphere he hopes to experience at Detroit’s Ford Field this coming Sunday, per Will Burchfield of Audacy. “I just know our fans. It’ll be to the point where you can’t hear yourself think — for (Seattle), anyway.”

Eric Woodyard of ESPN mentioned last week how the Lions utilized artificial crowd noise during practices to prepare them for playing at Arrowhead Stadium, routinely referred to as one of the loudest venues for road teams in all of the NFL.

Detroit’s offense didn’t produce elite numbers versus the Chiefs and was assisted by a defensive pick-six but nevertheless did enough to help the Lions earn the upset victory at the defending Super Bowl champions.

Campbell believes Lions fans will outdo those who cheered for the hosts on the first Thursday night of the 2023 season.

“My first game ever here as a player, 2006, it was actually Seattle and I just remember, I was not expecting that — it was loud,” Campbell explained. “And I’d been in some loud places and been around. That was my first eye-opener to, wow, we get some wins here and this place will really be on fire.”

As of early Monday evening, OddsChecker listed the Lions as significant favorites (-235, -6) to defeat the 0-1 Seahawks this Sunday. Seattle fell at home to the Los Angeles Rams 30-13 in Week 1.

“Our fans are going to be going crazy this weekend,” Campbell vowed, “with those guys coming into town.”

It’s now up to those fans to match Campbell’s enthusiasm.
