Lions roar into the top 5 in latest NFL power poll

USA Today

It’s amazing what one win over a top team can do for the Detroit Lions. In a word: credibility.

Beating the Chiefs in Kansas City sent the Lions shooting up the NFL power rankings. The credibility from besting Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs saw pollsters confidence in Dan Campbell’s Lions hit a new high.

After Week 1, the Lions roared up the USA TODAY weekly power poll. Detroit now sits at No. 5 after beginning the year at No. 14.

Interestingly, the Chiefs are still one spot above the Lions at No. 4. That’s the earned credit of being a defending Super Bowl champion. San Francisco, Philadelphia and Dallas are the top three, in order.
