The NFL world has one fairly unanimous name on its mind for the Carolina Panthers’ next head coach. The Panthers fired Frank Reich in his first season with the team on Monday after a 1-10 start with rookie quarterback Bryce Young.

Reich tried a few moves this season to get the offense clicking. He took back playcalling duties before their contest against the Dallas Cowboys. The Panthers have scored 20 points in total in the two games since Reich resumed playcalling responsibilities.

Many fans and analysts think the Panthers will go after an offensive-minded coach to save Young’s career in Carolina.

NFL world thinks Ben Johnson will be the Panthers’ next coach

Many fans and analysts speculated Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson will be the Panthers’ next head coach. Reports came out during the Panthers search in January that owner David Tepper was a fan of Johnson.

The 37-year-old coach has been highly successful with the Lions offense since taking the offensive coordinator gig in 2022. Johnson has helped to resurrect quarterback Jared Goff’s career and is a significant reason why the Lions are atop the NFC North this season with a record of 8-3.

Fans and pundits took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to suggest Johnson will be the Panthers’ next head coach. Here’s what they had to say:
