Linebackers aren’t typically associated with pass coverage but it’s still a good trait to have, even inside.
For the Lions, they currently have a mixed bag of linebackers when it comes to their ability to prevent separation and catches, according to a chart compiled by Judah Fortgang.
On the one hand, veteran Alex Anzalone was one of the best linebackers in terms of not allowing much separation and how well he was able to defend at the catchpoint. Anzalone was one of only seven linebackers to grade above 75 percent in both categories. That group includes 49ers linebacker Fred Warner and Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith.

On the other hand, 2023 first-round pick Jack Campbell struggled in both departments. In fact, he was at the bottom in both categories among those that met the snap requirements of 150 coverage snaps.
Derrick Barnes hovered closer to the middle of the pack but was above average on both sides.
Overall, the Lions’ linebackers are a solid group. The hope is that Campbell continues to grow. Having a leader like Anzalone continues to be a huge advantage for Detroit.
