One of the Lions’ only returning cornerbacks has a big chance to lock up a roster spot this weekend

It’s been kind of a rough week for the Detroit Lions’ secondary. Both rookie cornerbacks Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw left practice with injuries on Monday. Both injuries seem to be minor and we should see both guys on Week 1, but it’s tough to lose them. On top of that undrafted rookie Morice Norris got hurt and waived and Emmanuel Moseley suffered a potential season ending injury.

The only good that’s come from this is that it’s opened up a door for someone to show up and have a big week and maybe lock down a roster spot. Kindle Vildor has walked through that door this week.

Vildor may have already had a fighting chance to make the roster, but so far this week he is looking like a lock. Earlier in the week he had one of the biggest plays in camp where he broke up a pass intended for Donovan Peoples-Jones and then tipped the ball back in bounds where Brandon Joseph made a diving interception.

Then on Wednesday he was in with the first team and gave Amon-Ra St. Brown a real fight for most of the day.
