NFC North watch: All 3 Lions divisional foes win in Week 5

USA Today

Week 5 saw the Detroit Lions catch their bye week, a welcome break for the 3-1 team. Unfortunately for the Lions, their NFC North divisional foes all had positive outcomes for the weekend.

Minnesota kicked off the football Sunday in London by beating the New York Jets, 23-17. The Vikings offense struggled in this one, but Jets QB Aaron Rodgers threw three INTs, including one in the final minute to save the Vikings victory. Minnesota improves to 5-0, the NFC’s only unbeaten team after Week 5.

The Chicago Bears had a cakewalk game against the Carolina Panthers. The 36-10 final score makes the game appear closer than it was in reality; after an early Panthers touchdown run, Chicago absolutely dominated all phases of the game. The Bears improve to 3-2 with the win.

Green Bay also improved to 3-2 with a hard-fought win over the upstart Rams in Los Angeles. The Packers held on, surviving a Matthew Stafford comeback effort and winning despite converting just one third down attempt all afternoon.

In Week 6, the Vikings are on a bye week. Chicago plays Jacksonville in England, while Green Bay hosts the Arizona Cardinals. Detroit plays in Dallas in the late-afternoon window next Sunday.
