We’ve been watching the James Houston saga with the Detroit Lions like a hawk this season. At one point in time it seemed like he was a guy that was ready to take on the world and be a huge part of this defense and we’ve been hoping to see that guy again.
Unfortunately things have slowed down for Houston after struggling to nail down the SAM linebacker spot and then missing almost the entirety of the 2023 season.
Just a few weeks ago it seemed like things had turned a corner. Houston had a solid game against the Texans and the comeback was presumably on. The Lions coaching staff loved what they saw from a pass rush standpoint and wanted to see more good stuff from him against the run. That sadly did not happen against the Jaguars the following week and then on Sunday against the Colts the Lions played him for just four snaps all day.
Couple that with Houston being a healthy scratch for much of the season and it just hasn’t looked good for him all year. Then late Monday night he put this tweet out.
