Billy Sims Drafted No. 1 Overall by the Lions 🦁 #OTD

On this day in 1980, the Detroit Lions made Oklahoma star and Heisman Trophy winner Billy Sims the first overall pick in the NFL Draft, sparking a new era in Detroit. Sims exploded as a rookie, rushing for 1,303 yards and 13 touchdowns on his way to Offensive Rookie of the Year and three straight Pro Bowls, helping lead the Lions back to the playoffs in the early ’80s.
