Matthew Stafford threw three touchdown passes against his former team as the Detroit Lions lost to the Los Angeles Rams, 28-19, on Sunday in California.

In his first game against the Lions since being traded last offseason, Stafford found Cooper Kupp for 10 catches and 156 yards and two touchdowns. Stafford was 28-for-41 for 334 yards and three scores.

Jared Goff was 20-for-32 for 249 yards and a touchdown, but a costly interception as the Lions were driving late in the fourth quarter down by six.

The Lions pulled out all the stops, not only going for it on fourth down, but successfully running two fake punts for first downs and successfully recovering an onside kick in the first quarter.

Still, the Lions fell to 0-7 on the season. They host the Eagles next Sunday at Ford Field.
