Detroit Lions Injury Report: Week 14 vs. Broncos

SideLion Report

As the Detroit Lions look to start a winning streak, here’s the team’s final injury report for Week 14 vs. the Denver Broncos

The Detroit Lions finally put a mark in the win column in Week 13, with a dramatic victory over the Minnesota Vikings. This week they’ll travel to Denver to take on the 6-6 Broncos, who are clingingly to playoff contention in the AFC.

Here is the Friday injury report for the Lions heading into Sunday’s game, with game statuses. A flu bug went through the team this week, so it’s a lengthy list based on that.

Detroit Lions Week 14 injury report

RB D’Andre Swift (shoulder)-Out
OLB Julian Okwara (ankle)-Out
LB Jalen Reeves-Maybin (shoulder)-Out
TE T.J. Hockenson (hand)-Doubtful

OLB Rashod Berry (non-injury related)-No designation
OLB Jessie Lemonier (non-injury related)-No designation

If you’re counting at home that’s 12 Lions’ players listed as questionable, and only two of them not listed with illness. It’s not surprising Swift will miss a second straight game with the AC joint sprain in his right shoulder he suffered on Thanksgiving Day.

Hockenson popped up with a hand injury this week, and after his own optimism he’d be able to play on Sunday he is listed as doubtful.

To make matters worse, safety Tracy Walker and running back Jamaal Williams were put on the COVID-19 list on Friday. Center Evan Brown and defensive back Bobby Price were put on the COVID list earlier in the week as well.

Walker and Williams are all but certainly out Sunday, with true hail marys they could be cleared to play before kickoff based on vaccination status, test protocols/results off that and why they were placed on the list (positive test? close contact?). Brown had been filling in for the injured Frank Ragnow, so Ryan McCollum is lined up to step in as the starting center now. Price had seen little action in the Lions secondary lately, but his absence is a hit to the depth.

With Swift and Williams out, Godwin Igwebuike and Jermar Jefferson will be the top two running backs for the Lions against the Broncos. With Hockenson likely out, Brock Wright (who caught a touchdown in Week 13), will be the No. 1 tight end.
