On the first drive of Sunday’s game against the Broncos, Lions cornerback Jerry Jacobs suffered a serious-looking knee injury.
Amid a season of struggle, undrafted rookie cornerback Jerry Jacobs has been a great find for the Detroit Lions. With four others put on the COVID-19 list over the three days before Sunday’s game in Denver, any injury was going to be bad for Detroit’s secondary.
On the first drive of Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions, Jacobs collided with Broncos wide receiver Tim Patrick on a third-down play and his left leg bent awkwardly. He was helped off the field by trainers, carted to the locker room, and immediately ruled out for the game.

It definitely looks to be a very serious knee injury, involving his left ACL, MCL, etc. as he came up to help on the tackle. As noted by Lions’ beat writers on the scene in Denver, and known by anyone who watches football regularly, that he was ruled out for the game so quickly is a bad sign.
Head coach Dan Campbell will surely talk about the situation during his post-game press conference. Further evaluation is need to confirm, and more concrrete news will come from Campbell during his Monday presser. But it certainly looks like Jacobs’ promising rookie season is over.
