The Detroit Lions will surely fully vet plenty of wide receivers before the draft, and on that note Treylon Burks will come in for a top-30 visit.
The Detroit Lions are in the market for a wide receiver in the draft, so a chunk of their allotted top-30 prospect visits will surely be dedicated to that position. After Monday’s news Oklahoma State wide receiver Tay Martin has apparently already been in for a top-30 visit, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus has reported Arkansas wide receiver Treylon Burks will have a top-30 visit with the Lions.
The Lions join the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys as freshly announced pre-draft visits for Burks, bringing the current total of visits he has booked to seven teams (New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans were previously reported).
Treylon Burks is on the Lions’ radar, whatever it may take to get him?
Burks had a nice final season at Arkansas, with 66 receptions for 1,104 yards and 11 touchdowns as he earned first-team All-SEC honors. He was also a bit of dual threat weapon, with 14 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown on the ground. In 2020 he had seven receiving touchdowns, and as a freshman in 2019 he returned kickoffs and punts.
Burks (6-foot-2, 225 pounds), didn’t run a blazing 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine (4.55 seconds). A couple comps offered for him are A.J. Brown (NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah, NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein) and Alshon Jeffery (NFL Network’s Bucky Brooks).
With how some big trades have altered the first round of the draft, and created some major needs at wide receiver (see the Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs in particular), the Lions may have to trade up from No. 32 to get one of the top prospects at the position. Game tape says Burks is one of those first-round prospects, and the visits he already has booked suggests a combine performance that wasn’t outstanding is not a big concern for teams.
