Detroit Lions 2022 regular season schedule tracker

SideLion Report

As the 2022 schedule gets leaked bit by bit, the Detroit Lions will reportedly open the season hosting the Philadelphia Eagles. Any further updates will be tracked here as necessary before Thursday night.

We know the opponents, and we know it’s a favorable-looking schedule for the Detroit Lions during the 2022 season. We also know they won’t be traveling a lot of miles.

Ahead of Thursday night’s full schedule release, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer has reported the Lions will play host to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1.

The Lions hosted the Eagles last season, a 44-6 Week 8 drubbing by Philadelphia on Halloween Day. The Eagles rushed for more yards in the game (236) than the Lions’ offense had as a whole (228). The Lions are a far different, and surely far better, team than than they were then.

The all-time series between the Lions and the Eagles dates back to 1933, when the Lions were called the Portsmouth Spartans. Philadelphia leads the all-time series 17-16-2, but Detroit had won three meetings in a row before last season’s blowout in favor of the Eagles.
