Predicting the Detroit Lions remaining 2022 schedule week-by-week

SideLion Report

Looking to the rest of the schedule after their bye, how many more games will the Detroit Lions win this season?

The Week 6 bye came at a good time for the Detroit Lions, with a long list of banged up players and a coaching staff that needed a breather/reset. A 1-4 record could have been at least 2-3 if not for some poor game management decisions by head coach Dan Campbell.

But let’s leave the early part of the season behind, and look forward to the rest of the Lions 2022 schedule. Arguably the toughest stretch of their season is also coming, against the Dallas Cowboys (Week 7), Miami Dolphins (Week 8) and the Green Bay Packers (Week 9), even with the Dolphins and Packers losing in Week 6.

Early game-by-game and final record predictions for the 2022 Lions are irrelevant now. So let’s reset with a post-bye prediction for each game.

Predicting the rest of the 2022 schedule for the Detroit Lions

Week 7 (Oct. 23) at Dallas Cowboys: Loss
Week 8 (Oct. 30) vs. Miami Dolphins: Loss

Week 9 (Nov. 6) vs. Green Bay Packers: Loss
Week 10 (Nov. 13) at Chicago Bears: Win
Week 11 (Nov. 20) at New York Giants: Loss
Week 12 (Nov. 24) vs. Buffalo Bills (Thanksgiving): Loss
Week 13 (Dec. 4) vs. Jacksonville Jaguars: Win
Week 14 (Dec. 11) vs. Minnesota Vikings: Loss
Week 15 (Dec. 18) at New York Jets: Loss
Week 16 (Dec. 24) at Carolina Panthers: Win
Week 17 (Jan. 1) vs. Chicago Bears: Win
Week 18 (Jan. 7 or Jan. 8) at Green Bay Packers: Loss

Final Record Prediction: 5-12

Five wins isn’t what anyone envisioned before the season for the Lions. But the path to the bright predictions of eight or nine wins required at least a couple wins before the bye, and looked at the Giants and Jets as very likely wins. Those games against the New York teams don’t look like anything other than unlikely wins right now, though things could change between now and then.

Will a 5-12 record secure Campbell a third season as Lions head coach? That’s the line I’ve drawn at it becoming a legit question mark, as much as many Lions fans would rather not hear any speculation about Campbell’s job security.
