Detroit Lions injury report: Week 17 vs. Chicago Bears

SideLion Report

As they try to get back into the win column on Sunday, here is the final Week 17 injury report for the Detroit Lions.

The Detroit Lions are looking to rebound from their worst performance of the season in Week 16 against the Panthers, based on level of play with a layer of bad timing in terms of playoff odds. Week 17 against the 3-12 Chicago Bears at home looks like a great spot to get back on track.

Here is the final Week 17 injury report for the Lions, with game designations.

Detroit Lions injury report: Week 17

Out

  • S Deshon Elliott (shoulder)
    OG Kayode Awosika (ankle)

Questionable

  • C Frank Ragnow (foot)
    RB Justin Jackson (hip)
    LB Josh Woods (biceps)

No game designation

  • FB Jason Cabinda (illness)
    S Kerby Joseph (back)
    WR Josh Reynolds (illness)
    OG Logan Stenberg (illness)

Elliott will miss his second straight game, but Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reported he’s not far from being able to play. Ifeatu Melifonwu is expected to make his second straight start on Sunday.

Awosika will miss his fifth straight game. He returned to practice on Wednesday this week, but he has not practiced since. His season might be over.

Ragnow continues to have his practice reps managed carefully during the week, as he continues to play through a foot injury. He was a limited participant on Friday, and he’ll be starting at center on Sunday barring something unforeseen.

It appears Jackson injured his hip during practice on Thursday, as he was limited on Friday and is listed as questionable. He has played an important role as the Lions’ No. 3 running back lately, so if he can’t go it’ll be the D’Andre Swift-Jamaal Williams show against the 30th-ranked Bears’ run defense on Sunday.

Woods is a core special teamer for the Lions, and a team captain. Limited practices on Thursday and Friday seem to put him on the good side of questionable.

Joseph went from no practice Wednesday to limited Thursday to a full participant on Friday. He’s good to go for Sunday, so the Lions will only be down one starting safety.

Cabinda, Reynolds and Stenberg are the latest Lions to deal with an illness bug, but all three carry no status for Sunday and should suit up.

Here’s the Bears’ injury report for Week 17.
