Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers: Week 18 early odds and prediction

SideLion Report

The Detroit Lions can either clinch a playoff spot or play spoiler on Sunday night, and here are the early odds with a prediction for Week 18 against the Green Bay Packers.

It could be a “win and you’re in” scenario for both teams, or only the Green Bay Packers, on Sunday night in Week 18 to wrap up the 2022 NFL regular season schedule. Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is more than willing to have his team play spoiler for the Packers, if the Seattle Seahawks beat the Los Angeles Rams earlier on Sunday, and it’s fair to assume Lions’ players feel the same.

The Lions got back on track with a 41-10 beatdown of the Chicago Bears in Week 17, while the Packers extended their win streak to four and kept their playoff hopes alive with a 41-17 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Via FanDuel Sportsbook, here are the early odds for Lions-Packers Week 18, followed by a prediction for the game.

Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers: Early Week 18 odds and prediction

Point Spread:

Lions: +4.5 (-110)
Packers: -4.5 (-110)

Moneyline

Lions: +188
Packers: -225

Over/Under (49.5 points):

Over: -110
Under: -110

The Lions started their second half of the season run (7-2 in their last nine) with a so ugly it was beautiful 15-9 win over the Packers at home back in Week 9. This is a much different-looking Packers team now though, with five wins in seven games since and riding that aforementioned four-game winning streak. But during that winning streak, the Vikings are the only team currently with a winning record Green Bay has faced.

Prediction: Packers 27, Lions 24.

The Lions will know if they have a chance to make the playoffs by kickoff Sunday night. While that surely won’t impact their overall effort in the game, going against Aaron Rodgers in what’s essentially a playoff game at Lambeau Field is a tough bargain.

So the Lions fall just short of sweeping the season series. On the betting angles, Detroit covers, the Packers win outright on the moneyline and the over on the points hits.
