Former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will reportedly be making an announcement regarding his NFL future.

The 2023 league year officially begins on Wednesday, March 15, but teams can begin negotiating with free agents on Monday, March 13.

In terms of running backs, Miles Sanders of the Philadelphia Eagles leads the way, followed by Jamaal Williams of the Detroit Lions and Devin Singletary of the Buffalo Bills. Ahead of free agency frenzy, there was some news regarding one of the best running backs in recent memory.

According to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson, former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson says that he will be making an announcement at the end of March or April regarding his NFL future.

Adrian Peterson to make an announcement regarding NFL future

Peterson has not played in the NFL since the 2021 season when he split time between the Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks. He became a free agent after that season and remained unsigned. But in 2022, he notably competed in a boxing match, in which he was defeated by former Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets running back Le’Veon Bell.

At the start of his career, Peterson etched his name as one of the top running backs in the NFL’s history. After all, he was the last running back to win the NFL MVP award, where he led the league with 2,097 rushing yards and an average of 131.1 rushing yards per game in the 2012 season.

In his 10 years with the Vikings, from 2007 until 2016, Peterson recorded 11,747 rushing yards and 97 touchdowns on 2,418 carries.

After his tenure with the Vikings came to an end, Peterson played for New Orleans Saints, Arizona Cardinals, the now-Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions, Titans, and Seahawks.

In the midst of the big news that will be coming in the form of NFL free agency, an announcement from Peterson will be one worth monitoring.
