Aidan Hutchinson appeared on Chris Long’s “Green Light” podcast, and he touched on multiple topics related to the Lions.
Aidan Hutchinson turned out to be a perfect fit for the Detroit Lions when he was there for them to take second overall in last year’s draft. He led all rookies in sacks, and played more snaps than all but one other defensive lineman in the league as a whole. He was also double-teamed like an elite edge rusher as a rookie.
Hutchinson is a building block for the Lions, on and off the field. He also has an underrated personality, and he recently appeared on former NFL defensive lineman Chris Long’s “Green Light” podcast. A wide range of topics were on the table.

Hutchinson indicated how he heard rookies on the Lions have had massive dinner bills when it’s their time to treat teammates to a meal.
For him, having Josh Paschal split the bill made his rookie dinner bill very manageable.
It ended up being about $11,000 total,” said Hutchinson. “And actually, we had a second rounder, too, so we ended up splitting it.”

Hutchinson went into some more football-y topics with Long.
On playing for Dan Campbell:
…”just being a player, I’m just happy I got the privilege to be sitting in on some of those meetings because he’s pulling some analogy out and reworking it into some game time scenario. So, yeah man, I’m all about it. And what you see is what you get with Dan Campbell.”
On Jared Goff:
Jared is one of those guys that he seems laid back, you know. And when you see him, he’s kind of the Cali boy with the — he’s just kind of got that demeanor about him. But, man, he’s got so much attention to detail,” “I’ve walked into the quarterback room a couple of times and just to hear them talk, as I like to hear how those guys think and stuff like that. Man, the way he breaks stuff down with defenses even. It’s no wonder why he’s picking defenses apart, especially last year. He had a great year and it was fun watching him. I think he doesn’t get the credit that he deserves.”
The headline of the appearance is likely to come from saying Goff doesn’t get the credit he deserves. But it’s interesting that Hutchinson said he walked into the quarterback room a couple times last season, to get some insight into how those guys prepare. It points to his willingness to think outside the box or go the extra mile to be his best, which is how very good players become great. Beyond his talent level, Hutchinson clearly has the intangibles and drive to become great.
