McDonald’s fans 🤝 Detroit Lions fans

McDonald’s of Michigan announced this week they are launching a new way for fans to celebrate the Lions all season long with the best type of celebration: Free food!

After every Lions game this season, including the preseason game Friday against the New York Giants, an interception by the Lions will let fans get a free Big Mac after buying one. If the Lions follow through on their end of the deal, the Big Mac deal will be available the next day on the McDonald’s mobile app.

Last season, the Lions had 12 interceptions over 17 games, though those 12 picks came in just nine games. But they’ve bolstered their secondary with the additions of Brian Branch, C.J. Gardner-Johnson — who led the NFL in interceptions — and Cam Sutton, so it’s reasonable to expect that total to jump up.

In addition to the Big Mac deal, McDonald’s is creating a Lions-themed to-go box that will be available seven days a week starting Aug. 22. The box will have two Big Macs, a 20-piece Chicken McNuggets and two medium fries.

“The Lions Bundle Box is the ultimate game day companion, ensuring that fans can enjoy a variety of their favorite McDonald’s classics while cheering for their beloved Detroit Lions,” McDonald’s of Michigan said in a release. “Whether watching the game from the comfort of home or joining the action at the stadium, this bundle promises to elevate the game day experience.”

The Lions kick off their preseason schedule with a 7 p.m. start Friday against the Giants at Ford Field.
