After Saturday’s preseason loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Detroit Lions made a roster move on Sunday. Running back Mohamed Ibrahim has been waived/injured, and safety Scott Nelson has been signed.

Ibrahim, an undrafted rookie out of Minnesota, had been an easy darkhorse to make the Lions’ 53-man roster as the third or fourth running back. But he was injured during the preseason opener against the Giants and he has not returned since. He had clearly fallen behind in the position battle. Former Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker looks to be on the right track of rehabilitation in his rookie preseason despite the ACL injury that he suffered last November.

The Detroit Free Press’s Dave Birkett wrote on Monday that the Detroit Lions “are planning” to activate third-round pick Hendon Hooker at some point in the season.
