Lions open as the biggest favorites in Week 5 against the Panthers

USA Today

The first lines for the Week 5 games are out now, and the Detroit Lions are the early top dogs in the favorite department.

Detroit opens up as a 9.5-point favorite for Sunday’s date against the Carolina Panthers at Ford Field via BetMGM. That’s the highest number of points any team is giving up in the early listings.

Not every game has a betting line yet; there is still a Monday Night Football game to be played involving the New York Giants, who could be double-digit underdogs to Miami in Week 5 if they fare poorly against Seattle on Monday. But as of Monday morning, the Lions hold the biggest spread.

That’s a testament to both the first-place Lions playing some really good football at 3-1, as well as the Panthers coming to Detroit winless and largely punchless on offense.
