Thanksgiving best bets: One wager to make for every team playing on Thursday

USA Today

This is a special week in the NFL, with six teams playing on Thursday as part of the Thanksgiving football tradition. Of course, the Cowboys and Lions will each play home games against the Commanders and Packers, respectively, while the NFC West also joins the spotlight with a Thursday night showdown between the 49ers and Seahawks.

All three are divisional matchups, which only adds to the fun.

Rather than doing our traditional Week 12 best bets, we have a special Thanksgiving edition this week. Our NFL editors each picked their favorite bet for their respective teams this Thanksgiving, including an exact-score bet that pays $30,000 for a $100 wager.

Here are our best bets for Thursday’s slate in Week 12. All odds courtesy of BetMGM.

Packers at Lions: 12 p.m. ET

Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

Packers: Jordan Love OVER 1.5 passing touchdowns (+120)

Love has thrown multiple touchdown passes in three of the last five games and is playing his best football over the last month. The Lions have allowed 26 or more points in three of the last four games. Even if the Packers fall behind, Love will be throwing the football plenty, especially with Aaron Jones out. It might take garbage time, but hitting two passing touchdowns for Love at Ford Field is certainly possible. Zach Kruse, Packers Wire

Lions: Jameson Williams OVER 23.5 rushing + receiving yards (-115)

Williams has topped this total just twice in six games this season, but he’s seen a growing role in the Lions offense. After playing around 25 percent of the snaps earlier, “Jamo” has been on the field for over 50 percent in the last three games in total. His 32-yard touchdown reception in Week 11 demonstrated his progress in chemistry with QB Jared Goff on the deeper throws. It would not be a surprise to see Wiliams get a carry or two or a quick tunnel screen where he can use his ludicrous speed to make tithing happen. Jeff Risdon, Lions Wire

Commanders at Cowboys: 4:30 p.m. ET

Ed Mulholland-USA TODAY Sports

Commanders: Brian Robinson Jr. OVER 41.5 rushing yards

Robinson has been excellent recently, both as a runner and receiver. Last week against the Giants, Robinson was one of the few players to play well; the Commanders just didn’t hand the ball off enough. Facing Dallas’ pass rush, you should expect to see a healthy dose of Robinson as a runner and receiver on Thursday. He’s an easy bet to hit the over here. Don’t be surprised if Robinson finishes with 100 or more total yards, as he’ll be featured heavily. Bryan Manning, Commanders Wire

Cowboys: Defensive/special teams TD + win (+175)

These are insanely low odds compared to how most favored teams are viewed, but that’s the power of having the game’s best pass rush along with a pick-6 machine like DaRon Bland. Bland is looking to become the first NFL player with 5 interception return scores in history, but Dallas has scored on blocked punts and fumble returns as well. Kavontae Turpin has returned a punt as well, but it was called back for an opposite-field-side penalty. Washington’s Sam Howell is constantly sacked and threw three picks last week. This feels primed. – K.D. Drummond, Cowboys Wire

49ers at Seahawks: 8:20 p.m. ET

Cary Edmondson-USA TODAY Sports

49ers: Exact score 49ers 24, Seahawks 19 (+30000)

Let’s have some fun on Thanksgiving! The spread here is -6.5 so a five-point 49ers win is absolutely on the table. San Francisco hung up 21 points last season on a Thursday night in Seattle. Three more than that this year isn’t outrageous. With the Seahawks it wouldn’t be a surprise for their offense to get rolling some behind RB Zach Charbonnet. A 24-13 lead for the 49ers where the Seahawks score late and fail a two-point try to make it 24-19 feels way too plausible to not take the mega long shot. Bet $100 to win $30,000. Let’s ride! Kyle Madson, Niners Wire

Seahawks: K Jason Myers OVER 5.5 points (-125)

This team is loaded with talent offensively and they move the chains well between the 40s. However, they have struggled on third down and in the red zone this year, which has made Myers a busy man. He has scored at least 6 points in nine of their 10 games so far this season. Myers has been particularly productive the last couple of weeks, racking up 27 total points. Tim Weaver, Seahawks Wire
