PFF doesn’t see Lions using franchise tag

USA Today

One of the NFL and its owner’s favorite tools of the offseason is the use of the franchise, non-exclusive, or transition tags. The players on the other hand have always had a different view of it but it does help a player make a quick payday.

The Lions have some notable free agents such as C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Charles Harris, Graham Glasgow, Jalen Reeves-Maybin, and James Houston to name a few. While those names are notable to fans they are not worthy of any franchise tag destination according to PFF.

PFF suggested NFC North division rivals such as the Packers and Vikings not place a tag either. For the Chicago Bears, however, they named cornerback Jaylon Johnson as being worth a franchise tag designation.

PFF also didn’t suggest a franchise tag nominee in 2023 either. While the Lions may not have anyone worth a franchise tag right now, the way Brad Holmes is drafting that may need to change as players continue to develop.
