Lions to sign young versatile cornerback Amik Robertson, fits what Brad Holmes is looking for

The Detroit Lions continue to add to their cornerback room during free agency. They reportedly will be signing former Raiders fourth-round pick Amik Robertson.

Robertson has versatility and that’s something the Lions love. He played both outside and slot corner for the Raiders in 2023 and started 12 games for the team. Robertson finished the year with two picks and six pass breakups.

The Lions are expected to move towards a more man coverage type scheme and Robinson played pretty well in that scheme when the Raiders used it in 2023. He allowed just 52.6% of balls thrown his way to get caught.

One of the big things to like here is that Robertson has a 12.7% missed tackle rate. That’s very good and meshes well with Brad Holmes comments at the NFL Combine when he talked about wanting a cornerback that could tackle.

Robertson is a guy that could be a CB3 for the Lions, but he’s on the younger end too, so there’s always a shot that the 25-year-old could find himself doing more.
