Lions new uniforms: Tracking the reaction to the updated gear

The Detroit Lions unveiled their new uniform combinations at an event for season ticket holders at Ford Field on Thursday night. The redesigned jerseys, pants and helmets are the first overhaul of the team’s uniforms since 2017.

Among the changes are a new black jersey/pants combination with the traditional Honolulu blue for the numbers and lettering. There is also a new black helmet with blue accents. The team changed the tone of the silver, making it more vibrant.

The early reaction to the new uniforms is pretty favorable. Here is a sampling of some of the social media comments and reactions to the Lions’ new gear.

I genuinely like what the Lions did. I thought they took a positive step in 2017, but grew to hate the number font because it was hard to read when reporting live & reviewing film. Revisiting 90s look and numbers while cleaning up the striping achieved the “modern classic” goal.
