Lions News: Lions New Uniforms Are Fire! Players Lions Should Avoid In The Draft, Lions Trade Up

DETROIT – Funny story. I was out doing a story on the new Lions jerseys Thursday and one guy said they may have been leaked online. I Googled it and a few things popped up. Turns out, what he and others thought were the new jerseys were not.

But, oddly enough, some of the images that appeared turned out to be the ones that the Lions confirmed Thursday. At the time, though, I immediately dismissed them, thinking, “They’d NEVER go back to these.”

General manager Brad Holmes doesn’t want to disappoint the Detroit Lions’ fans, but if he gets an offer to move down from their current pick in the first round he’ll take it if it makes sense for the franchise.

In most years, Holmes would be expected to take an offer that would benefit the Lions.

But this year is different because of the possible impact on fans. Detroit is the host city for the draft, starting with the first round next Thursday.

The Lions have the 29th pick overall. A trade down could drop them to the second round, which starts with pick 33.

Given Detroit’s status as a contender, they could very well see a window to trade up as they look to maximize the talent on the roster ahead of a pivotal campaign. NFL Draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah said the Lions are among the teams who could move up to land a top-tier talent.

“Yeah, I wouldn’t rule that out. They’ve got some age on the offensive line, so if there’s a guy they feel like they love, to go up there and get one wouldn’t shock me at all,” Jeremiah explained. “Corner is a position they continue to look at, they’ve done a lot of homework on the corner class in talking some to agents over the last week. So yeah, I think if one of those top corners start to drift a little bit, they could go up there and do that as well. They are knocking on the door, they are right on the cusp of being a championship team. So if there’s a time to be aggressive, this would be it.”

The NFL is reinstating five players who had been suspended indefinitely for violating the league’s gambling policy, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Four of the players are free agents: ex-Detroit Lions wide receiver Quintez Cephus, safety C.J. Moore and defensive lineman Demetrius Taylor as well as Indianapolis Colts linebacker Rashod Berry. Washington Commanders defensive end Shaka Toney, the fifth reinstated player, remains with the team.
