Lions rookie CB explains why he chose unique jersey number

If cornerback Terrion Arnold‘s “coin toss” story were true and he had ended up being drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders, he probably wouldn’t have been able to wear No. 0 during his rookie season.

Raiders cornerback Jakorian Bennett sports that jersey number for Las Vegas.

With Arnold arriving for the Detroit Lions‘ rookie minicamp on Friday, he’s able to don the unique digit. The Alabama product told reporters he chose No. 0 because there “ain’t nobody like (him).”

The Lions selected Arnold with the 24th overall pick during April’s NFL Draft, and he’s expected to line up across from left cornerback Carlton Davis III in Detroit’s starting secondary this season. Davis was traded to the Lions in March after spending the first six seasons of his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Other members of the team’s projected starting unit include 2023 second-round pick Brian Branch and 2022 third-rounder Kerby Joseph at strong and free safety, respectively.

According to a report by ESPN’s Eric Woodyard, Arnold is just the third player in Detroit’s history to wear No. 0, following fullback Johnny Olszewski in 1966 and wideout Marvin Jones Jr. in 2023. Jones Jr. was released by the team in October after announcing that he was stepping away due to personal matters.
