Dalton (Ga.) High School honored one of the most electric players of its football program this weekend.

Jahmyr Gibbs, a former four-star running back in the 2020 recruiting cycle, brought fans to feet every Friday night playing for Dalton.

He generated excitement as a back, wide receiver, return specialist, and wildcat quarterback when he touched the football. Gibbs frustrated opponents and opposing coaches with his explosiveness and versatility. He spend two seasons at Georgia Tech after dominating high school, but Gibbs made his biggest splash at the University of Alabama.

He transferred to Alabama in the spring of 2022 and had an impactful, long touchdown run on A-Day.

Gibbs became a star in one season for Alabama, totaling 926 rushing yards, 444 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns — helping the Crimson Tide to an Allstate Sugar Bowl victory over Kansas State. He was selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions and had a great rookie campaign. In his return home to Dalton, Ga., Gibbs had his high school jersey retired.
