Lions News: Sign Quandre Diggs? Jared Goff Praises Kalif Raymond, Frank Ragnow NOT Retiring?

The Detroit Lions parted ways with Quandre Diggs during the 2019 campaign in a trade. Diggs would be named a Pro Bowl selection each of the following three years, making the deal a tough one for Detroit.

According to information reported, the split was not the most amicable. Though Diggs has always voiced his love for the city, there were rumored issues in the relationship with the Lions’ previous regime and head coach Matt Patricia.

The Detroit Lions recently signed quarterback Jared Goff to a massive four-year, $212 million contract extension that locks him up in Motown for the long haul. In turn, that has led many to speculate about the team possibly trading 2023 third-round pick and fellow signal-caller, Hendon Hooker.

Lions All-Pro center Frank Ragnow isn’t going anywhere despite lots of talk and speculation about a potential early retirement this offseason. In fact, Ragnow says he’s feeling great and is ready to run in back for a long time.

“I feel really good,” Ragnow said via Justin Rogers of the Detroit News. “I feel as good as I’ve felt in a while. This has been my best offseason, 100%. I really dove into a lot of things to take care of my body and I feel like I’m clicking right now. The goal is to keep it a steady trajectory into the season.”

The Detroit Lions are smoothly transitioning into the next phase of their build. It happened in a little bit of a different way than it does a lot of other places—where a quarterback comes off a rookie deal, and a team is dealing with a massive jump at the most expensive position in the sport. But with the combination of Jared Goff’s numbers doubling (he made a touch under $26 million per year over his first three seasons in Detroit), Penei Sewell coming off a top-end rookie deal and Amon-Ra St. Brown coming off a Day 3 rookie deal, Detroit is there.

A player that often gets overlooked is Kalif Raymond, who has quietly been productive and aided Detroit’s explosive passing attack. While Raymond has done much of his work in the return game, he has contributed plenty to Detroit’s passing attack over his three seasons with the organization.
