Aidan Hutchinson moving up in Defensive Player of the Year odds

USA Today

Aidan Hutchinson took a nice jump from his rookie campaign to his second season in Detroit. The Lions EDGE raised his sack total from 9.5 to 11.5, forced three fumbles, registered 33 QB hits (up from 15) and broke up seven passes in 2023.

That strong production earned Hutchinson his first Pro Bowl nod. The eyes are now on a bigger prize in Year 3.

Hutchinson is one of the leading betting favorites to be the AP Defensive Player of the Year in the coming season. The Lions standout is sixth in the odds from BetMGM and alone in a plateau between the top five and the crush of candidates thereafter.

Hutchinson sits at +1100, which trails behind a triumvirate of Nick Bosa, Maxx Crosby and Myles Garrett at +700. The top two odds go to Micah Parsons and T.J. Watt at +550. There’s a large gap between Hutchinson and Jacksonville’s Josh Allen, who is next up at +1800.

The odds nicely reflect the potential for Hutchinson as well as the expectations that he will be one of the most impactful defensive players in the NFL in 2024.
