Detroit Lions vs. Dallas Cowboys DFS Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em | October 13, 2024

Yardbarker

The 3-1 Detroit Lions travel to Dallas to take on the 3-2 Cowboys in what should be high high-scoring NFC clash. Last week Dallas went into Pittsburgh and beat the Steelers on a late fourth-quarter scoring drive. The Cowboys will look to make it three straight wins versus a Lions team fresh off their bye and riding a two-game winning streak.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions DFS Start ‘Ems

Here are a few of the players we are heavily leaning on in this game. These players are in a good spot to have a solid performance and a favorable matchup.

Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff ($6.4k DraftKings and $7.7k Fanduel)

Jared Goff is coming into this game off the perfect passer rating game in week four against Seattle. Goff was 18-18 for 292 yards and two touchdowns. Goff’s passing numbers are in the top half of the league despite playing one less game than the league leaders. He is completing 71% of his passes and his 8.2 yards per attempt is top five among regular starting quarterbacks. We feel very comfortable starting Goff in DFS this week.

Dallas Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson ($5k DraftKings and $6.1k Fanduel)

Jake Ferguson is TE9 and second on the Cowboys in passing targets and it can be argued he is the Dallas WR2. Ferguson is tied for third in the league in tight-end targets and gets a Detroit Lions defense ranked bottom six against the pass.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions DFS Sit ‘Ems

On the flip side, here are a few of the players we recommend sitting in this one.

Detroit Lions WR Jameson Williams ($5.8k DraftKings and $6.3k Fanduel)

Williams is no doubt a big play threat and at times only needs three to four touches to be fantasy-relevant. However, Williams had only two targets against Seattle and just 16 touches in four games. The Cowboy’s strong suit is defending the pass, ranking ninth in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers. For example against Seattle, Williams had a touchdown on two receptions. A 50% touchdown rate is simply not sustainable.

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott ($4.4k DraftKings and $5.9k Fanduel)

Sitting Elliott is an easy DFS decision for us in week six. Against the Steelers Elliott only saw six carries for 17 yards and has not seen double-digit fantasy points since week one. In the last four games, Elliott is averaging a mere 2.6 fantasy points per game.

Total Apex Lock of the Game

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott ($6.7k DraftKings and $8k Fanduel)

Dak Prescott has a nice matchup this week against the 27th-ranked Detroit Lions pass defense and he could go lower owned with a main slate that includes Jayden Daniels and Lamar Jackson. Prescott comes in as QB9 and tied for sixth in the NFL with eight touchdown passes. This week’s game against the Detroit Lions has a DFS main slate high 52 implied game total. We can start Dak Prescott with confidence in a game with shootout potential.

Total Apex Fade of the Game

Dallas Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle ($5.9k DraftKings and $6.1k Fanduel)

We used Dowdle here and not in the sit recommendations because he taking over the Cowboy’s RB1 spot and provides a floor with his passing game usage. That being said, Detroit is ranked 6th in fantasy points allowed to running backs, and Dowdle still only had a 50% snap share in week five versus the Steelers.

Conclusion

Detroit at Dallas is set up to be a shootout with two very good signal callers and an implied game total of 52. There are DFS options galore in this one and should be a boon to DFS and season-long fantasy managers. We did not mention the obvious starts in Ceedeee Lamb and Am0n-Ra St. Brown, but they should eat in this game.
