Jared Goff
You can just look at that list of the top five vote-getters and see that Goff is fifth in the league in votes. He’s having a career season this year and is second in passing yards and fourth in touchdown passes. This is his fourth Pro Bowl appearance.
Amon-Ra St. Brown
The guy is a star, and there’s just no doubt about it. I don’t know if he makes the All-Pro team this year, but his big season was enough to get him his third straight Pro Bowl appearance. Crazy enough, this is the one he actually got voted in for, not his huge season last year.
Penei Sewell
The best tackle in the game. Of course, he was going to make it in for this one. Sewell garnered the most votes among right tackles in the NFL and he will now be playing in his third straight Pro Bowl.
Frank Ragnow
Ragnow has had another really great season this year. He has not allowed a sack since Week 6. It’s been an outstanding year for him. He led all centers in fan votes. This will be Ragnow’s fourth Pro Bowl.
Brian Branch
Branch has had a solid year this season and he did lead the league in strong safety fan votes. He’s been all over the field as safety and now he’s playing nickel corner as well. The versatility was enough to get Branch into the game. This is his first Pro Bowl.
Jack Fox
The best punter in football. Do we really have to say more? This is Fox’s second Pro Bowl.
Alternates
Kerby Joseph: 2nd alternate
Joseph is having a Defensive Player of the Year type season. He leads the league in interceptions and isn’t allowing much at all to happen in his area of the field. He deserved to be on the original ballot and somehow he was not. This is the biggest snub the Lions have ever had. I just can’t understand what happened here.
Kevin Zietler: 3rd alternate
Such a great addition that Zietler has been for the Lions this year. He’s been one of the best guards in the league this year and big upgrade over Jonah Jackson. The big question now is will he stay in the NFL and stay in Detroit a little longer?
Sam LaPorta: 1st alternate
LaPorta did not have as good of a year as he did in his rookie season, but he still had a solid enough season to show that he’s now flash in the pan. Sophomore slumps happen to just about everyone that has rookie season like he did.
Akim McNeil: 3rd alternate
Despite being injured and missing the rest of the season, McNeill got voted in as an alternate. He obviously won’t be playing in the game.
Kalif Raymond: 1st alternate
Raymond got voted in as the first alternate to be the return specialist for the NFC. Had he not got injured, he’s probably be on the Pro Bowl roster this year.
Jake Bates: 1st alternate
Not bad for the rookie from the UFL right?
David Montgomery: 3rd alternate
Another guy that’s missing some time, but is still getting some recognition for the amazing play he had this year.
Taylor Decker: 3rd alternate
One of the team leaders getting some honors here.
Graham Glasgow: 4th alternate
Another team leader getting honors.
Jack Campbell: 4th alternate
I wouldn’t get super used to seeing the word “alternate” next to Campbell’s name. There’s a solid chance he’s on the Pro Bowl roster very soon.
DJ Reader: 7th alternate
Had no idea the alternates ran that deep, but good for Reader.
