Did Brad Holmes FAIL the Detroit Lions?

Lions Nation Unite
Brad Holmes views third round picks differently than any other GM in the NFL. He has so much confidence in his ability to hit on players in the 4th, 5th and even 6th rounds that he sees 3rd rounders as bargaining chips.

  1. Your commentary implies he had a crystal ball and could see what pics are going to be available in the fifth and sixth round. This is two years in a row that he used a lot of draft Capitol to select a player that more than likely would’ve been available at the original pick. If he would’ve kept those third round pics, he may have been able to trade up into the second round. Last year it was Giovanni Manu, who has made very little progress. If he did, they may not have taken additional offensive lineman in this draft. The quality of players available in the second and early third are much better than in the fifth and sixth. Just because he finds a decent player in the fifth and sixth round doesn’t justify giving up way too much draft Capitol for players hardly anyone values as much as Detroit
